Voltaire: considerações sobre sua Historiografia e Filosofia da História // [Voltaire: considerations about his Philosophy of History and Historiography]

This article aims to examine the historiographical conception of Voltaire, trying to showfeatures and ambiguities of this french philosopher who also produced historiographicworks. The object is compare different historiographic patterns present in Voltaire,which point both to the old conceptions of history as to the new historiographicalvisions that mark the second half of the eighteenth century and the passage of thiscentury to the nineteenth century. In addition, we examine the glimpses of a futurehistory that, in some works of Voltaire, have permited to historians of the twentiethcentury claim Voltaire as a distant precursor of historiographical trends of the lastcentury.
