Abstract
Making use of scrip works during the sixteenth century and early seventeenthcenturies dealing with the Conquest of America, we present how the history hasbenn used by historians of the Conquest. It discusses the political use of history asa way to legitimize or challenge the achievements of those who took part in theConquest.
