Christian Ely F. Poot is an Assistant Lecturer of History at Mindanao State University – General Santos City. He earned his BA History (cum laude) from the same school in 2017. Right after graduation, he served as research assistant to different local projects under different topics under medical anthropology and peace and conflict studies. An MA History student at University of the Philippines – Diliman from 2019 to present, he is pursuing a study on a prominent national figure, Gen. Paulino T. Santos. His research interests usually confine within Maritime Southeast Asian Traditions and Connections, Philippine internal migration dynamics, and political economy of modern Southeast Asia. He is also into speculative/analytical philosophy of history and historiography, history and historiography of philosophy, sociology of knowledge, and intellectual history/history of ideas/mentalities, digital and popular culture, and media and history as his cross-disciplinary interests. He is one of the historians and consultants in the full-length historical film “The Restless Heron” (2023).
