AbstractNext to the emphasis stressed in his study of historiography as a genre or as scientific speech, Edmundo O’Gorman’s work, and especially his book of 1947, Crisis y porvenir de la ciencia hist.rica, offers the possibility of remembering the relevance Philosophy of History had as integral part of historical task to explain, what it does and what sense can be attributed to the writing of history. This way, the present article tries to show how O’Gorman’s aim of carrying out a philosophical foundation to explain the sense of historical knowledge rests on phenomenological reflection, based on the work both of Martin Heidegger and Edmund Husserl.Key words: historiography, phenomenology, philosophy of history, historicity. ResumenJunto al énfasis puesto en el estudio de la historiografía como género literario o como discurso científico, la obra de Edmundo O’Gorman, y en especial su libro de 1947, Crisis y Porvenir de la ciencia histórica, nos ofrece la posibilidad de recordar la actualidad de la filosofía de la historia como una parte integrante del trabajo que ha de realizar el historiador para explicar lo que hace y qué sentido puede tener la escritura de la historia. Así, el presente artículo trata de mostrar c.mo el objetivo de O’Gorman –llevar a cabo una fundamentación filosófica para explicar en qué consiste el conocimiento historiográfico, en cuanto tal conocimiento, y llegar así a una determinación de sus supuestos– descansa en una reflexión de tipo fenomenológico, tal y como se encuentra expresada tanto en la obra de Martin Heidegger como en la de Edmund Husserl.Palabras clave: historiografía, fenomenología, filosofía de la historia, historicidad.
