Abstract
Examines the concept of the "linguistic turn" as reflected in 'Logics of History: Social Theory and Social Transformation' (2005) by William H. Sewell, Jr., and 'A Crooked Line: From Cultural History to the History of Society' (2005) by Geoff Eley, which advocate linguistic analysis and discourse studies. The article also looks at the "new cultural history" and social history and notes the emergence of the "practice turn" concept.
