Abstract
Discusses sources of mutual misunderstanding between historians and analytical philosophers examining historical methodologies. Philosophers concentrate on philosophical questions of conceptual structure and language, while historians focus on the research and writing of history. Philosophical issues often seem trivial or irrelevant to historians. Only scholars trained and active in both disciplines are likely to produce theoretical structures integrating these two fields.
