The Concepts of Socio-Economic System and Historical Epoch in the Periodisation of Contemporary World History

Abstract
A discussion of history from the Marxist viewpoint, which contends that the flow of history as a process amenable to generalization began only with the advent of capitalism and socioeconomic systems. Even within such a generalization, the identifiable periods of history have not occurred concurrently or in the same manner everywhere until recently. This new period, marked by the success of socialism in many areas of the world, began with the Russian Revolution.
