Abstract
Research on the subjectivity of historical cognition has been the most important topic in academic circles of historical cognition on the mainland since the 1980's. Discussions on it can be mainly summed up into four basic aspects: the definition of subjectivity of historical cognition; the characteristics of historical cognition; the structure and functions of historical subjective consciousness; and the historical cognition of the relationship between subjectivity and objectivity. Research has deepened and broadened understanding of the subjectivity of historical cognition among mainland academics, but most of this research is short on originality.
