Abstract
This paper consists of a few remarks on historical writing in the contemporary society. Through situations taken from our day-to-day life, such as the off comment by anchor and journalist Boris Casoy mistakenly broadcasted in Brazilian television, it outlines the importance of History for the society’s transformation. Thus, it defends the relevance which historiography’s works from diverse approaches have to the historian’s formation and, therefore, to the improvement of the historical research. This work stands for an idea of History as a living discipline, in which the knowledge is built through the practice of historiography. Consequently, it provides a glimpse of some reasons why History is such a fundamental subject to the understanding of the on-going reformulation of the world, and yearns for developing the criticism required for the construction of a more humanitarian society.
