Abstract
The author discusses the rationale for her book 'Time and the Shape of History' (2007), a comparative framework for the different approaches worldwide to historical studies. The fragmentation of history in the schools curriculum and the collapse of simplistic grand narratives have left a void in length even while depth has improved.
