Memória e esquecimento nas práticas punitivas // [Memory and forgetting in punitive practices]

Abstract
The study analyses the punishing practices as mnemotechniques, bringing
closer Nietzche’s philosophical perspective and the agnostic theory of punishment. The
hypothesis developed in the research is that both the ritualized practice and the institucionalization
of punishment, through primitive criminal procedures, act as mechanisms
of maintenance of the memory of the crime, “moral guilt” and “feeling of duty”.

Key words: Punish practices. Memory. Nietzsche.
