Abstract
Nicolae Iorga was deeply interested in the discovery of historical truth and in the means, methods, and possibilities of achieving this goal. He analyzed issues such as the relationship between the national and the universal in history, the cause and effect principle in historical phenomena, the complexity of historical research, the role played by the historian's complex personality, the relationship between history as a scientific discipline and other disciplines that help explain historical data, and the rapport between history and culture, ideology, and religion. These interests affirm Iorga's competence as a historian and confirm the exceptional value of his research.
