Biography and/or project

Being an historian of Eastern Europe by specialization, I am actually manager of the study programs of the Institute of history at the JGU Mainz (about 3.000 students of history). I have been interested in analytical philosophy of history since my academic studies and in the application of theories of action in historical research (and as a foundation for hermeneutics) in special. Didactics of history is a new interest that arises from my actual work; I am concerned with the question what distinguishes history as a scientific discipline from history in school and what difference that makes for didactics of history at a university.
